Fluxmere is located on the outskirts of Child Okeford, a charming destination for those seeking a peaceful countryside experience.

There are two highly recommended local pubs in the village, The Saxon Inn and The Bakers Arms, both of which serve food daily, are dog friendly and have indoor and outdoor seating options.

There is a well-stocked village shop and post office which has all the essentials should you need to pop to grab any last-minute items. It has a deli counter, coffee machine and fresh bread – you can even enjoy your coffee in the outdoor seating.

Gold Hill Organic Farm is located a short walk from Fluxmere. All produce is either produced or grown on site or has been sourced locally. There is also a café that serves lunches, cakes, tea and coffee. In the courtyard of Gold Hill Farm there is also an artist studio both of who are happy to welcome guests to view their work or watch them in action.

Child Okeford also has a small play park and large playing field to run around including several play towers and slides.

Hambledon Hill

Fluxmere sits at the foot of Hambledon Hill which when you’ve climbed to the top boasts views across three counties whilst standing at 630 feet tall.

Hambledon is one of the most outstanding Iron Age Hill Forts in Britain and is thought to be one of Britain’s earliest prehistoric settlements.

Hambledon is also a National Nature Reserve with an abudnace of impressive nature and wildlife to be discovered.

You can walk from Fluxmere to Hambledon Hill and is definitely worth the visit!

North Dorset Trailway

The North Dorset trailway is a walking, cycling and horse-riding route that runs along the old Somerset and Dorset Railway Line. The largest section is 9 miles long and runs between Sturminster Newton and Blandford. Along this section you pass through beautiful countryside and villages and you can take in breathtaking views of the River Stour and Hambledon hill.

Jurassic Coast

Fluxmere is only a short drive way to the stunning Jurassic Coast which is a 95-mile stretch of coastline running from Exmouth in Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset. There are many iconic spots along the coast such as Old Harry’s Rock, Lulworth, Durdle Door and Kimmeridge Bay. Larger towns of Weymouth, Lymer Regis and Charmouth can also be accessed within the day.
